Creusabro® – Steel in a class of its own
Throughout the GSA region, we exclusively supply sheets in the grades Creusabro® 4800, Creusabro® 6400, Creusabro® 8000 and Creusabro® Dual, which have better temperature resistance compared to water-quenched and tempered HB steel grades thanks to the addition of chromium and molybdenum. There is no significant loss of hardness at operating temperatures of up to 500 °C. As a result, the steel is characterized by good hot formability. Processing at 500 °C and subsequent air cooling does not result in any significant loss of hardness. Creusabro® 6400 is a newly developed, wear-resistant steel with a high manganese content (4 %) that outlasts the service life of conventional water-quenched and tempered steel grades. Creusabro® 6400 is made from more than 85% scrap and thus contributes to reducing the CO2 footprint of steel production.
Creusabro® sheets offer you these advantages
- Higher wear resistance compared to classic water-tempered sheets
- 50 % longer service life of Creusabro® 4800 compared to water-tempered sheets in the 400 HB series
- 50 % longer service life of Creusabro® 6400 compared to water-quenched and tempered 450/500 HB steel grades
- 50 % longer expected service life of the Creusabro® 8000 compared to classic sheets in the 500 HB series
- Weight savings and higher payload with the same wear service life thanks to the use of thinner sheet thicknesses
- Reduction of manufacturing and maintenance costs by avoiding cost-intensive machine downtimes

Creusabro® – Guaranteed temperature and wear resistant
At least 32 J at -20 °C are typical values for the toughness of Creusabro® steel grades – all with good weldability, making them ideal for the production of complex components. For example, Creusabro® steel grades are indispensable for mining and tipper bodies, excavator shovels and heavy-duty shears for scrap. These steel grades are also characterized by good temperature and wear resistance. Conventional water-quenched and tempered steel grades lose their hardness at over 250 °C. In contrast, Creusabro® steel grades can be used up to an operating temperature of 450 °C. This is due, for example, to the chemical composition and microstructure.
Due to the quenching process during production, the wear-resistant steel does not exhibit any residual stresses and there is no deformation during or after cutting. An excellent flatness of less than 5 mm/m can therefore be achieved without further cold forming. In the as-delivered condition, the Steel grades is therefore soft compared to conventional water-quenched and tempered steel grades, without impairing wear resistance under operating conditions. In addition, there is a reduced heat-affected zone, for example after flame cutting or welding.
Thanks to these excellent properties, Creusabro® qualifies for industrial applications with high temperatures, such as those frequently encountered in the energy, cement, iron and steel industries.
Efficient processing and cost savings with Creusabro® steel grades
Creusabro® steel grades are specially designed so that the wear-resistant sheets enable effortless further processing, such as edging. This is due to the moderate hardness in the delivery condition. Processing with conventional tools and cold finishing are possible without any problems, resulting in considerable cost savings for fabricators. At the same time, the wear resistance remains unaffected under operating conditions. The so-called TRIP effect increases the wear resistance by 70 HB when using the steel grades and this is homogeneous throughout the entire sheet thickness. This metallurgical process refers to the induced transformation through plasticity. This abrasion is caused, for example, by the impact of stones or abrasion particles.
Thanks to its excellent surface hardness under wear load, Creusabro® offers the ideal combination of wear resistance and ease of processing, even under very demanding operating conditions.
Longer service life of your machines thanks to wear resistance
Many processors around the world have already had positive experiences with Creusabro® Hot rolled Sheets. For example, the wear-resistant steel ensures a longer service life for machines in the following industries:
- Mining (including components for chain conveyors, mining and transportation equipment)
- Conveyor technology
- Recycling (including screens, shredder linings and tools)
- Stones and earth (including jaw and impact crushers)
- Cement works, mills, separators (including rotor blades, armoring, mill linings)
- Ferrous metallurgy (including fire engine linings, ash grates)
- many other industrial applications.
