Your partner for successful crane construction

High-strength steel grades that set standards.

In crane construction, there are different types of cranes depending on their intended use and design: From jib and overhead cranes to tower cranes. At UnionStahl, we use high-strength steel in the form of sheets, blanks and fully machined assemblies to meet individual requirements.

Telescopic booms are used to enable vehicles in the construction industry and in heavy-duty transport to be deployed quickly in changing locations and to work easily at great heights. Tower cranes, on the other hand, are used in building construction. Gantry and slewing jib cranes are used in goods handling and storage areas, shipyards and assembly halls.

Indispensable in crane construction: high-strength steel grades from UnionStahl

We are prepared for these individual requirements and are able to supply high-strength steel grades in accordance with EN 10025-6 and EN 10149-2 from our full range in larger quantities. Our plates with a wall thickness of up to 16 mm meet the tolerances of the telescopic boom regulations.

The use of high-strength steel gradesreduces the weight of the crane. The advantages for the crane manufacturer are as follows: Reduced operating costs and increased load capacity.

Requests for structural steel grades in S235JR+N and S355J2+N for counterweights, upper and lower chords and side plates up to a plate length of 16,000 mm are not uncommon for us.

We also supply components for hoists and load handling equipment (e.g. C-hooks). Our range of products includes Hot rolled Sheets, oxyfuel, plasma and laser-cut blanks and fully machined assemblies. We pack the components at the request of our customers. As a reliable partner, we deliver directly to your production chain (just-in-time and just-in-sequence) for further processing.
