Your partner in steel construction: structural steel grades for every challenge

High-quality Steel grades and precise workmanship.

Steel plays the main role in the construction of load-bearing structures. The versatile steel construction sector includes bridge, hall and hydraulic steel construction and other projects such as stadium structures. At UnionStahl, we are optimally prepared for the special requirements of steel as a construction Steel grades.

  • High strength combined with low weight
  • Excellent formability and weldability
  • Long service life
  • Good repair options for damaged areas

Our versatile steel construction range of unalloyed structural steel grades, normalized fine-grain structural steel grades, thermomechanically rolled fine-grain structural steel grades, high-strength steel grades and weather-resistant steel grades offers the optimum and economical solution for various applications.

From planning to assembly: complete solutions for steel construction

Special requirements are placed on the steel grades to be processed for the trough bridge type: Ultrasonic testing, weld-on bending test by rolling plate and tensile test in thickness direction (Z35). Sheets wider than 3,500 mm and longer than 12,000 mm are often required. This, in combination with high unit weights, is one of UnionStahl’s strengths.

With heavy plates in accordance with DBS 918002-02 from Deutsche Bahn, we have specialized in the requirements of bridge construction.

One area with special requirements is hydraulic steel construction. This segment includes the construction of trades for lock gates, dock gates, bottom outlets (of dams), weir locks and ship lifts.

Classic hall construction and the construction of stadiums are another focus of steel construction. The advantage here is the comparatively short planning and construction time that would be required if other Steel grades were used.

We have adapted to the Steel grades requirements of the steel construction industry and store structural steel grades in accordance with EN 10025-2 with the following specifications:

  • Widths up to 4,000 mm
  • Lengths up to 16,000 mm
  • 3.2 Acceptance
  • DBS 918002-02
  • Ultrasonic testing according to EN 10160
  • Notched bar impact test at -40 °C
  • Weld-on bending test
