Your efficient partner for weldable fine-grained structural steel grades

Weldable fine-grain structural steel grades have a minimum yield strength of 275 – 460 MPa, a higher yield strength than comparable steel grades and a high resistance to brittle fracture. This results in good processing properties. The Steel grades is easy to weld and is used in the production of stressed welded constructions.

Our weldable fine-grain structural steel grades offer you these advantages

  • Excess widths: 3,500 and 4,000 mm
  • Lengths up to 16,000 mm
  • Inspection certificates 3.2 DNV

Difference between unalloyed structural steel grades and fine-grained structural steel grades

Fine-grain structural steel grades are ideal for welding. To achieve this property, the carbon content is less than 0,2 %, as carbon has a negative effect on the weldability of steel. The addition of alloying elements results in a fine grain, which characterizes these steel grades. Fine-grain structural steel grades can be produced in the normalized or thermomechanically rolled delivery states. We stock Hot rolled Sheets in both delivery states in accordance with EN 10025-3 and EN 10025-4.

Normalizing ensures that the sheets retain their original microstructure and are therefore suitable for production by hot forming or normalizing.

Due to the manufacturing process, thermomechanically produced Hot rolled Sheets is characterized by a fine grain size, high toughness and strength. The sheets can be easily cold-formed without any negative impact on the Steel grades properties. We store the grades S275NL, S355NL, S355ML, S460NL and S460ML with notched bar impact test at -50 °C. This makes the sheets suitable for use at low temperatures. We have sheets up to 4,000 mm wide and up to 16,000 mm long available for you. The weldable fine-grain structural steel grades are 3.2 DNV certified. Weldable fine-grain structural steel grades are used in the manufacture of pressure vessels, offshore and wind power plants and in steel construction when the strength of general structural steel grades is insufficient. With our excellently sorted stock of weldable fine-grained structural steel grades, we are an efficient partner for a wide range of applications.
