UnionStahl promotes sustainability with green heavy plate

At a time when sustainable steel is becoming increasingly important, UnionStahl, as a leading trading company in Germany and Europe, is demonstrating its commitment to the green transformation and expanding its sustainable product range through its collaboration with Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH.

A partnership for sustainable concepts

UnionStahl has been working closely with Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH for many years. This partnership is now being further strengthened by the joint focus on sustainable products. Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, a Salzgitter AG company, is focusing on the innovative SALCOS® (Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking) transformation program, which aims to ensure virtually CO2-free steel production by 2033. CO2-reduced slabs are already available via the Peiner Route, taking into account short transportation routes and strict environmental regulations.

With projects such as the expansion of photovoltaic systems or the promotion of electric cars as company cars, UnionStahl is fundamentally committed to resource-conserving and environmentally friendly working methods that reduce the company’s ecological footprint. This sustainable approach will be further strengthened by the new cooperation with Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH.

With the new cooperation agreement, UnionStahl is securing sheet metal made from CO2-reduced steel, which is ideal for the construction industry, mechanical engineering and infrastructure projects. This green steel plays a key role in the energy transition in particular, as it significantly reduces the ecological footprint of projects such as wind farms. UnionStahl is thus underlining its sustainable focus and its pioneering role in the transformation of the steel industry.
