Structural steel S355J2+N with material number 1.0577
Steel grade S355J2(+N) with material number 1.0577 according to DIN EN 10025-2 belongs to the non-alloy and normalised structural steels. In general, steel S355J2+N is suitable for all common welding methods. In addition to S355J2+N, UnionStahl stocks S355K2+N.
At the lowest product thickness, the yield strength is at least 355 MPa. The notch impact test is carried out at -20°C and must reach at least 27 J for S355J2+N and 40 J for S355K2+N. UnionStahl stocks structural steels with inspection certificates according to DIN EN 10204 3.2 DNV GL, 3.2 LR and 3.1 with a CE mark, AD 2000 W1. The structural steels we stock have a surface according to DIN EN 10163 UG3.
Use of Structural steel S355J2+N
In addition to S355J2+N, UnionStahl stocks structural steels up to 30 mm thick with a guaranteed bending capability – S355J2C+N. We stock plates that comply with the technical delivery conditions specified by Deutsche Bahn – DBS 918002-01 and DBS 918002-02. S355J2 + N is used in steel construction, pressure vessel and boiler construction, mechanical engineering, mould making, mining and the construction machinery sector. UnionStahl stocks this steel grade up to a width of 4,000 mm and a length of 16,000 mm. Material number 1.0577 defines a non-alloy quality or structural steel that is also known under DIN EN 10025-2 and S355J2(+N). S355J2 can basically be characterised as a material that is easy to machine. It’s distinguishing characteristics include very good dimensionally stable properties as well as suitability for all common welding processes.
