Offshore steels

Offshore oil and gas reserves are produced globally under extreme conditions. The deposits are located in very remote regions, making their production dependent on extreme engineering solutions. The reserves lie deep below the sea floor, temperature fluctuations between summer and winter are extreme and very high winds are common. Offshore steels must withstand these conditions.

In addition, offshore steels are employed in the footings of offshore wind turbines.

The steels employed must be suitable for low temperatures, be characterised by high toughness values and be very easily weldable.

UnionStahl supplies you with offshore steels compliant with EN 10225, NORSOK and API standards in the normalised and thermomechanically rolled supply conditions.

Thermomechanically rolled plates are characterised by their good toughness and weldability.

Among others, the offshore steels stocked by UnionStahl meet the additional requirements 12, 13 and 18 of EN 10225. Option 12 calls for a strain age hardening test to be carried out on plates thicker than 12.5 mm. Option 13 describes the execution of a tensile test in the thickness direction compliant with EN 10164 Class Z35. Option 18 certifies the weldability of the steels.

The heavy plates are covered by test certificates compliant with DIN EN 10204, 3.2 DNV and 3.2 LR.

Steel. Trade. Develop

Besides plate, we stock bulb flat steel in grades A, D36, E36 and S355NL. With this and the extensive stock of offshore steel heavy plates, UnionStahl is a reliable partner to quickly meet your short-term requirements.

We produce blanks, such as toothed racks for the feet of jack-up rigs, to stringent tolerances.
